ALORA

The history of Alora was begun in prehistoric times. Archaeological remains have been found in the Hoyo del Conde, near the present city. Later, due to good conditions in the region, were the turdetanos and the phoenicians who settled in this area of the Guadalhorce valley. Centuries later, after the Muslim occupation, the Christians have the control of the city in June 1484. Later, in 1628, the town is definitely segregated of Malaga. Just a few years later, in 1680, the village is almost completely destroyed by a earthquake.
Today Alora is a beautiful village in the province of Malaga ( Andalusia ) just 38 kms from the capital of the province, and therefore also very close to the Costa del Sol, with whitewashed streets kept its charm over the years and its arabic essence. Has an extension of 169 km² and 13500 inhabitants. Very close to the town is El Chorro, a little over 10 kms and the natural park "Desfiladero de los Gaitanes". El Chorro is a canyon caused by the Guadalhorce river in the Sierra de Huma. Its a place visited by all lovers of nature Malaga.
